FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ):
CAN I REGISTER ON-SITE AT AN IN PERSON SCHEDULED EVENT?
No. Parents must register players online and upload birth certificates through the registration system. It is not possible to register on-site.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME TO AN IN PERSON SCHEDULED EVENT?
Other than your registered players in proper attire and with the proper equipment, nothing. All you will need to do is check in and a volunteer will direct you where to proceed.
HOW CAN I BE SURE I ORDERED THE RIGHT UNIFORM SIZE?
Uniform samples are available at paperwork drop-off dates. You can verify that you ordered the correct size, if you did not, we can make a note on your paper registration.
CAN I REQUEST A COACH?
Coach requests are only accepted at T-Ball and Super 6 divisions. At paperwork drop-off your request will be noted on your paperwork but is not guaranteed. All other divisions do not accept coach requests as we use a blind draft to create teams.
CAN MY DAUGHTER PLAY WITH HER FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER?
Only sisters are guaranteed to play on the same team. Requests to play on the same team as a friend or family member are only accepted at T-Ball and Super 6 divisions. At paperwork drop-off your request will be noted on your paperwork but is not guaranteed. All other divisions do not accept such requests as we use a blind draft to create teams. There is no exception for players needing rides to and from practices or games.
WHEN ARE PRACTICES?
Practice schedules (dates and times) are created by the coach of the team your daughter ends up on. Once teams are formed there will be no changes to teams or if there are scheduling conflicts.
WHEN DOES THE SEASON START?
The season officially starts Feb.1, you will be assigned to a team and begin practice after this date. Opening Day (first day of games) is usually the Saturday of President's Day weekend.
WHAT DAYS ARE GAMES PLAYED?
Game schedules can and may be played within the week to include Saturdays (during Spring season) and Sundays (during Fall season). Game schedules will be dependent on how many teams are registered and field allocations. Game schedules will be posted through our website on the respective teams' page and will not be finalized until teams are finalized.
WHEN DOES THE SEASON END?
Playoffs occur during the last week of April and Closing Day is the first Saturday in May.
I AM NEW TO SOFTBALL; WHAT EQUIPMENT DO THE GIRLS NEED?
Players in all divisions, T-Ball through Majors need their own, bat, glove, helmet with face mask and cleats. A fielder's mask is optional. Pitchers will be required to wear a fielders' mask.
MY DAUGHTER IS NEW TO SOFTBALL; DOES SHE NEED TO KNOW HOW TO PLAY BEFORE REGISTRATION?
Bonita Valley is a recreational league that has players registered spanning different skill levels across all age divisions from novice to advanced. Teams are formed to balance the skill talent across all teams to keep the level of play as fair as possible.
WHAT DIVISIONS DOES BONITA VALLEY HOST?
The following are the respective divisions at Bonita Valley. Should there not be enough players to form enough teams in the Majors division, the board will combine the Majors and Minors division to create a Big League Division.
Majors (14U) (12-14 years old)
Minors (12U) (11-12 years old)
Mini-Minors (10U) (9-10 years old)
Rookies (8U) (7-8 years old)
Super Sixers (6U only) (6 year old's)
Tee Ball (4-6 years old)
NOTE: Some players who turn a year older after the August 31st date will be eligible to play in their respective age division.
HOW OLD DOES MY DAUGHTER HAVE TO BE TO PLAY?
Division age of play is determined by the players age on August 31st that preceded the start of the Spring Season that the player will play in.
DOES MY DAUGHTER HAVE TO ASSESS?
Registered players in the Rookies (8U) divisions and younger will not be assessed. Exception to the previous statement is if the registered player is supposed to play in the 8U division will play up to include higher divisions. It is not a guarantee that a player will be granted to play up. It will be assessed if the level of play of the registered player would pose a risk to opponents and or teammates. Registered players will be required to assess if any of the following is applicable. Players will be required to bring their own equipment (listed and stated above) and dressed as best as possible in softball attire, for the assessment.
- The registered player will be playing for the first time in a new division starting in the Mini-Minors division and older.
- The registered player is a pitcher and or a catcher.
- The registered player will be playing with Bonita Valley for the first time regardless of playing experience and is applicable if playing in the Mini-Minors division and older.
